- Prof. Yu, born in November 1968 in Yueyang, Hunan, and a member of the Communist Party of China. He is currently working as an chief physician, professor, and doctoral tutor at the Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University.
- In 2008, Prof. Yu was recommended by the Ministry of Education to spend one year as a visiting scholar at the European Center for Pancreatic Surgery, University of Heidelberg, Germany.
- From June to September 2015, Prof. Yu was recommended by the Third Xiangya Hospital to receive Da Vinci robotic surgery training at the University of Southern California and the University of Chicago.
- Prof. Yu has been working in the general surgery department for over 20 years and have extensive experience in treating complex and difficult diseases of the liver, biliary tract, pancreas, spleen, and gastrointestinal tract, with a particular focus on pancreatic and duodenal surgical diseases (severe acute pancreatitis, pancreatic carcinoma, and chronic pancreatitis).
- Prof. Yu has conducted numerous clinical and scientific research studies on the diagnosis and treatment of severe acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic carcinoma, pancreatic endocrine tumors, distal bile duct carcinoma, and duodenal neoplasms. He has developed and promoted a complete clinical procedure with characteristics to peers in China.
- In addition to performing traditional pancreatic surgery, Prof. Yu has been performing laparoscopic and Da Vinci robot-assisted pancreaticoduodenectomy and distal pancreatectomy, achieving commendable results.
- Prof. Yu has won several provincial science progress awards, including the Third Prize of the Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award twice.
- Prof. Yu leads over 10 national, provincial, or departmental projects, including 3 general projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
- Prof. Yu has published over 100 academic papers in both Chinese and English in important domestic and international professional journals, including the International Journal of Biological Sciences, Cell Death & Disease, Frontiers in Immunology, Pancreas, and Pancreatology.
- Prof. Yu has served as the chairman of the "Sino-European Pancreatic Disease Multidisciplinary Forum" (a national continuing education project), which has had significant influence in China.
- Commissioned by the People's Military Medical Press, Prof. Yu hsa translated and published "Diseases of the Pancreas," "Uncommon Pancreatic Neoplasms," and "Imaging and Pathology of Pancreatic Neoplasms," which are of great significance in clinical practice for pancreatic diseases.
- Prof. Yu He served as the supervisor of 20 Master's students and 9 Ph.D. students.
